Biking Payson Canyon

We went biking up Payson Canyon. We did a shuttle with Christian's new truck so there was very little uphill and TONS of downhill. Just the way I like it! Our friends Chris and Summer joined us as well as Dave. It turns out that Dave is not only an awesome biker but also pretty good with a camera. He captured this classic photo of Bret on our first shuttle up the canyon.

and this one of me in the Aspens.

Christian took these photos using a tilt shift focus. They look almost fake with how cool they are.

Bret in a tilt shift focus.

Me just out of focus but you can see how fun I thought this trail was.

Now don't mind the semi naked swim suit bottoms shot but I wanted to show the gnarly bruise I got falling off my bike and landing on a tree.

OUCH!!!

Celebrating the 4th

We celebrated the 4th this year with some grilling and then hanging out in the back of Christian's new truck watching the fireworks with some friends. As usual Christian took photos so there are none of him except this one that Bret took before we left. Nothing special about it but thought you should know he was there.

Of course all of the food was eaten and there are no photos... it was however, plentiful and delicious in case you were wondering.

This photo of Bret makes me laugh.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

Las Vegas 2011

The week before Independence Day we went to Las Vegas with our friends Chris and Summer. Summer's parents have a time share at the Planet Hollywood and they let us stay with them for a couple nights. It was a pretty sweet setup too. The rooms had full length windows that looked out over the strip and a button you could press for an electronic shade that would block out all sun in case you wanted to sleep in past 5am... which we did. In the front room the shade doubled as a projector screen so we could watch shows where the people were as big as we were. With a full kitchen and jetted tubs it was hard to want to leave the room. But the pool at this place was beautiful and the streets of Vegas were begging for us to walk along them. Not to mention all the shopping! We had so much fun with our friends touring the strip and being a part of the nightlife. Most of my trips to Vegas have involved climbing so it was nice to see another side of the City of Sin. Christian took all the photos so of course there are very few with him in it. He does such an amazing job with the photo play by play, so its hard to remember to use my own camera.

Christian's new Truck

Guess who's a happy boy?

Lets face it... the Jetta needed to go. It had some substantial problems and was in constant need of repair. Sure Christian shed a few tears but ultimately he is sooooo glad its gone. After listing it for sale it seemed like more and more things kept breaking. We both watched with fingers crossed that nothing else would break as the new owner (who we fully disclosed all known problems) got in the car and drove away.

First thing we did when it was gone... buy a truck! Christian had been looking at trucks for quite some time and we decided upon a Nissan Frontier. Many of you may recognize this as it is the same one Dad has. So far we love it and it has taken us on many a fun journey. It's so easy to throw the bikes in the back or other outdoor gear. Soon we will get a shell put on the back for climbing trips so we can camp in the back. It will be a pretty sweet setup.

Never was there a happier boy than a boy with his truck.

Grove Creek

We went for a hike up Grove Creek canyon,
which is located in our new home town of Pleasant Grove.

Gorgeous views and a pretty sunset.
